1. What is On Track: Class of 2007 about?

On Track: Class of 2007 is a study which will track the progress of leavers from colleges and universities in Scotland.  Participating leavers will be surveyed four times over five years; shortly after leaving university of college, a year after leaving, three years after leaving and finally five years after leaving.

In total, just over 9,000 students took part in the second phase of the research at the end of 2008. We would like to thank everyone for taking part. The third survey will take place in Autumn 2010.

The findings of the research are already helping colleges and universities to understand the impact of their courses on students, and to identify improvements that can be made for students of the future.

Ultimately, the information collected will be used to inform policy-makers, colleges and universities, employers and students.

2. What will the survey cover?

The third stage of the survey will ask about any employment or further study that learners have been involved with in the years after completing their course at college or university. It will look ask for learner views on what the long term benefits of the learning experience have been, and the impact of the learning has had on their career and life in general.

The survey will also provide an opportunity for learners to tell us their future aspirations, and what issues are affecting their choices about their life and career.
